DC Darling Tube Amp
This is a class A vacuum tube amplifier called DC Darling as found on the Internet. It has “DC” in the name because it operates on 400 volts DC. There is also a AC version of this amplifier. I had a lot of fun and challenges in building this amp. It was my first time working with high voltages and also first time working with vacuum tubes. I chose to use a vacuum tube rectifier as opposed to a solid state one to keep everything nice and warm. The power output of this amplifier is 3/4 of a watt per channel. It sounds VERY good even though it has so little power. Below are some pictures of the finished product and a prototype photo.
